Married To The Sea

HomePoetryMarried To The Sea

I, tiny ship on endless ocean blue,
My sails are kissed by winds both fierce and true.
I rock beneath the morning’s golden sigh,
Then reel beneath a thunder-stricken sky.

Love is the tide that lifts me toward the light,
Then pulls me deep beneath the weight of night.
It guides me with a star no eye can see,
Yet hides the shores when I would rather flee.

The waves can soothe like kisses on the bow,
Or slam the hull with questions silent now.
It teaches trust when maps are torn in half,
And tests my soul when skies forget to laugh.

Sometimes the calm is where the danger waits,
For storms, though harsh, can open unseen gates.
I bail and steer, though drenched and tempest-tossed,
Still drawn to love, though counting every cost.

For though the sea is fierce and wild above…
No voyage lives but for the risk of love.
