This entry is part 5 of 5 in the series Between Gods and Grace

In the quiet of my heart,
I pause.
The masks I have worn
loosen,
falling into the still air.

Charm drifts.
Beauty fades.
Applause dissolves.
What remains
is the self God has known all along.

I feel the gentle question:
Can this truest face
honor the Maker?
And in the stillness,
I hear the answer:
I am already cherished.

The world spins its web,
pulling me to perform, to please.
I step aside,
breathing into the pause,
and see the divine in the ordinary-
in scars, in quirks,
in shadows and light,
in every hidden corner of being.

To reveal this self
without concealment
is worship.
Each unguarded gesture,
each soft truth,
becomes a vessel
for something greater.

I stand,
still, attentive,
fashioned by God’s hand,
not for admiration,
but for sacredness.

And in this essence,
I am breath.
I am light.
I am enough.

    1. Well said, Curly. I think God is within us and not up in the sky sitting on a throne. Sometimes we need to sit for a while in silence to feel it, and then appreciate it.

      • Thank you, Tim. I think silence allows us to hear what the noise of the world so often drowns out. The divine is closer than we realize, waiting for us to become still enough to recognize it. 🙂
