Dyslexia

it’s not just a disability

it’s an annoyance, people say

but I can’t help it

I was born this way,

the average person sees

written instructions—

to them, a simple plan

but for me—

a new language

in a foreign land,

what you see clearly

I struggle to see

that’s dyslexia—

that’s just me,

when I go someplace unfamiliar

my directions are skewed

I choose the wrong way first

like I always do,

it’s easy for you

not easy for me

I wouldn’t judge you

like you judge me,

give me a problem

others can fix

because I’m highly logical

the solution just clicks,

dyslexia isn’t chosen

it’s part of my design

and even with the struggle

my mind still shines.

    1. This is good informative poem. My son has dyslexia and though it takes him a little longer to read things, it does not change who he is. I love when I can relate to a piece
