the lost key

HomePoetrythe lost key

ripped from the mouth of sound
a gapin hole
where hammer should break bone

hands drop
ivory grindin under skin
silence echos
where it used to strike

scale shatters
edges crackin
broken teeth in the dark

chords crawl forward
draggin themselves
thru blood and tone

I slam the weight down
again
again
as if force
could drag music out
as if I begged
sound would come back screamin

I play into the damage
spittin at the gods
of tune and symmetry
fuck their perfect circles
fuck their flawless performance
I hope every goddamn note
collapses in their hands
and rots in their fuckin mouths

my foot buries the damper
the only god worth my worship
pinnin every string by the throat
no mercy in it
all of them at once

cut it off
cut it all the way off
don’t let it ring
don’t let it finish

hold it there
til it fights back
til the whole frame
shudders under my touch

refuse it a clean death
smother it
mid cry
mid breath
mid anythin that thinks
it deserves to exist

this ruin won’t fuckin die
low
feral
breath rattlin in its chest
in the gap
open
starvin
howlin louder than anythin
I can reach

    1. I like the brutal choice on words.

I can sense a lot of toughness from the writer.

This is slightly mentally challenging in a way that captivates the reader.

      Ready for some more…

    2. “chords crawl forward
      draggin themselves
      thru blood and tone”

Powerfully penned, 253. Excellent write my friend it always gets interesting when the piano is mentioned in your work. So many great lines but the one above just spoke to me. Nicely done per usual. Appreciate you.
