I was anticipating the past to have a little more pizzazz
Then again, my recollections are never really the same way
The future is here but it’s not quite what the imagination was
Yet the aesthetic brings me a nostalgic lens for precious yesterday
I long for a now in the past tense of when when was then
Remembering the expectation way before the old Y2K
Further back perhaps like the retro visions of tomorrow
Before modems trilled and crashed trying to open a gateway
Maybe even further back back to the optimism of idealists
Somewhere between the dream of steam and cyber- punk
But this dystopian modern day is a realm of anxiety and stress
As if the romantics spilled the ink in blots when they got drunk
I am now the man I used to picture back when I was ten
But stuck In and outside a mobius strip tripped strapped for time
And though I haven’t been as original or avant-garde as I’d like to be
I’m reviewing the schematics trying to find the flaw in the design
Maybe I’m not the only who gets lost in between the now and then
Searching for answers from yesterday so the echo today will respond
I’m looking for solutions while trying to figure out where I went astray
So that I can watch the then from now and somehow see into the beyond

Powerfully penned, Wally. Into the book it belongs! An excellent write with sprinkles of nostalgia mixed with searching for answers from the past to answer questions in the present. I totally relate, always looking for breadcrumbs to piece the puzzle together myself. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

Thanks Damian, I appreciate that. Falling with the themes of retrofuturism, today’s culture and society seem to have fallen short, maybe it’s the nostalgia, but there was a disconnect somewhere along the way. I think we may be able to find it.
