A stranger’s face, never to be seen again, has looked deeply into your eyes, on a secluded beach, with some silent or mute message that you will never be allowed the time or intimacy to understand….

For thousandth of a second

I forget my fear of stranger

brushing against my shoulder,

my lungs become kite

In the secluded cove

tides too tame to reach

her eyes breach my stare

and double-barrelled we

bear the weight of trigger

Slit in her dress

bursts as blood fountain’ed from torn tourniquet

The sea’s fingerprints

thumb more than messages in bottles –

Duchess, Night’trembles Anticipation –

to touch, to feel the bones within

her harbour’s rib cage, to lick salt

from lips painted by drowned sailors

Upon a glass piano

melancholy melody will push the sky away

and yet, falling, hands plough into sand

anchoring so deep, the moment will resurface;

resurrection beyond breakfast crucifixion,

feral breeze decants smell of her skin

We circle as shadow puppets

erecting the backdrop of a new play,

there is no-one around for miles
