Did I cause climate change?
Not me alone, my son
but we looked away too often,
as long as we had fun.
We bought more than we needed
cars, big homes and bloody boats
flew circles round the planet,
stuffed garbage down our throats
We wrapped the world in plastic,
turned daylight into night,
over fished our oceans,
claimed it as our right.
We watched the ice retreating,
but scrolled and shrugged instead,
while forests burned behind us,
we, the mindless and brain dead?
Were we the cause of climate change?
Well not directly son.
But we didn’t give a flying fuck
As long as we had fun.
The young will have to pay now
For our lives of little care
They’ll choke and cough and splutter,
death comes without clean air.

Yep, nailed it.
All those people saying it doesn’t exist won’t be around when their offspring’s offspring are hacking up their lungs and peeling off their skin, but who cares? Right?
Big poems start with little thoughts.
Glad you liked it.

Well said, Peter. A perfect poem.
Thanks Tim.
Not perfect but true.👍
