Under the slumping shoulders
of the cafe’s awning
I watched tiny rain circles
loosely burst in puddles
on the ground while
my hair lightly waved from
September’s weary winds.
Nat King Cole sang softly
“A Blossom Fell,”
on small hanging speakers
when she strolled by
quickly catching my eye.
I’d seen her.
Was it a week before?
Was it in the book store?
Or was there something more?
Raindrops hung from the awning
like tears on a cheek.
And that’s when it hit me.
She aged
but the broken heart she gave me
lightly tapped me on the shoulder
to remind me.
She promised we’d be together
forever….but forever ended much
sooner than I’d expected when
an aggressive stranger entered the picture
and she fell for him.
It’s funny how you never forget your first love.
Even when they’ve become a stranger
just walking by.

“A blossom fell and very soon
I saw you kissing someone new beneath the moon
I thought you loved me, you said you loved me
We planned together to dream forever
The dream has ended, for true love died
The night a blossom fell and touched two lips that lied.”
A Blossom Fell – Nat King Cole.

beautifully written I felt this 💕
Thank you, Crimsin
Best revenge, live happily ever happy without them holding a place inside you. Easy to say, I know. Yet, writing it out is also great therapy and makes you breathe better. Our success comes from trial and error. You succeed regardless.
Write it out amigo.
