If there is a way
to process the enormity
of what has transpired—
let it reveal itself.
Its hugeness threatens to crush me;
too visceral to explain,
too painful to share,
and it is not going to go away.
They say that you can eat the proverbial elephant
by taking one bite at a time;
conquer the highest mountains
step by step; one foot in front of the other.
But how can anyone know where to begin
when pain’s vast vortex
threatens to subsume them whole?
And so,
I will wait,
taking some small comfort in knowing
my pain is temporary;
its immensity enfolded beneath the beauty
of your limitless sky.

Very good.
Thank you.
Beautiful ink! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! It’s been a while.
Pain is temporary even though the weight of it is maddeningly overbearing.
Awesome spill
Welcome to Stars Rite, Ellie.
Thank you. That’s a timely and helpful reminder. Some of this, I might be grappling with for a very long time, but life is too short. Our days are like grass, and all that.
You’re welcome. I’ll keep you in my thoughts.
