Don’t Do It

Bookmark
Summary:
An anti-suicide poem...

Death came quickly, I remember.
But not quick enough.
I suffered.

Suicide is painful
in so many ways,
to myself, to others.

And for those others,
deep emotional pain followed
and internal scars inflicted

by my selfishness!
By my self-pity!
By my own choice!

I say this, don’t do it.
Don’t be a quitter,
don’t be a coward.

I remember too late now,
that is, in death,
all the positive memories.

Memories I chose to forget.
Leading up to my suicide,
only the negative images

projected in my mind!
Don’t do it!
Talk to someone.

Even in sorrow,
remember people that care
exist out there somewhere.

You just have to find them.
You just have to muscle through it,
and you just have to be aware you matter.
