You say you want me
to draw me out
sketch me on the page
for all the world to see
Till at last I relent
to creamy dreamy charm
and bare myself
for you
You lay me
out on your couch
draping red satin
awash in soft light
“Relax Baby”
a honey whisper
while sharpening
the long charcoal
Spreading your hands
with deft orchestration
wary arms unfold
lithe legs splay
Silent seduction reigns
only gravelly scratch
of pencil on paper
with longing breaths
I feel warm yet frozen
trapped in stillness
watching you shift
from me to sketchbook
So this is it
adoration
inspiration
the fate of a muse
Till without warning
you are done
close the book
shelving me high
out of reach
