Point of No-Return (Collaboration with Duhsjaak )

Bookmark
Summary:
I wrote this poem in September 2025. In November, the outstanding guitar player and highly appreciated fellow Starsrite-member Duhsjaak composed and performed this song, using the poem as the lyrics. Thank you for for this wonderful collaboration, dear Gus!

Point of No-Return

Like pearls your tears glisten on the leaves

A masterpiece of nature’s magic

So marvelous and yet so tragic

Because it was us who caused your grief

We live as if there was no tomorrow

Global warming and droughts we accept

As progress’ neglectable side effect

Leaving behind problems and sorrow

We pollute your soil, water and air

Without giving back we consume and take

We exploit you for our own sake

Too long we haven’t become aware

Now, many people try to live mindfully

Though the point of no return has been passed

We hope that we can save the planet at last

Using our brains and acting gratefully

May our plead for forgiveness be enough

For you to grant us another chance

Hopefully, I thank you in advance

Mother Nature, I bless you with my love!

Also on behalf of Sappho, I would like to thank you for listening.
The lyrics are about something we both care deeply about. And she was the one to write this inspiring poem. And artwork of course.

Thank you so much for your very fine compliments. They go a long way!

      Kind regards, Sappho and Gus

    2. Powerful penned, Elke and Gus. Excellent collaboration you two. Great lyrics, Elke and excellent music, Gus. Your guitar tone has a little Neil Young vibe going on. Top notch both of you. Appreciate you, both.

    3. I bow most reverently to Sappho ‘n Gus 🙏

Stunningly beautiful, You Two, in every sense of the word.
Artwork choice, title, and the Envelope Form in its abba rhyme-scheme (with spot-on and soft rhymes), work perfectly together, just as writing and musical skills came together in rendering this lovely, impacting virtual masterpiece in homage to Mother Earth’s ever dwindling beauty and life sustaining wonders.

Simply, an enthralling co-write … love it deeply!
      Thank you both! ⁓ Richard🖌

      Nits:
(Check V1-L3, “get” may have been meant as “yet”. Final stanza, L1, should “plead” be “plea”?) 🤓
