Summary:
Are you ready for a tiny ghost story kids? Ooooooo.

I’m one of those guys who wanders through abandoned homes notorious for their fearsome hauntings. I traipse through rooms with caution, though; the floors beneath my shoes often crackle from debris, creating a false sense of security. You see, some floors are spongy or have unseen holes that could send me falling unexpectedly into hell.

At times, invisible spirits, out of the silence, amplify a response to my inquiries with impalpable knocks or creaking doors… or were they just normal noises?

In the dark, sheer curtains, filthy from the dust of a shattered window, induce a ghoulish vibe if there’s a breeze and your flashlight unexpectedly catches one waving.

I admit it: I’m compelled by the allure of the mysterious. I wait for something, but exactly what, I’m not sure.

Ghostly voices maybe? Proof?

Transparent figures rarely materialize. But once, my ringing phone gave my companion and me a terrifying jolt. A message appeared on my screen, and I read it aloud:

“We’re closer than you think. Get the hell out!”

The second the words left my mouth, an ominous crack burst from the wall. Our reaction was quick and swift.

I’ve since discovered it takes adrenaline a second to accelerate, and shortness of breath at least five minutes to diminish after a quick bolt back to the car and a pedal to the metal.

I never said I was brave. 🙂

    1. Tim, this took me into the haunted rooms of that house and feeling the disquieted vibes as I read. Truly a master work of short story telling. Your descriptions of the broken window and dusty curtains made the scene come alive for me in full visual effect. As the story unfolded I enjoyed the narration and how it pulled me into the story. Truly great ghost story telling that had me fascinated unto that great ending where the message appears on his phone.
