The Rent
Whips my back
Leaving deep scars
The Rent
Keeps me from sleep
It keeps me from sleep
The Rent
Binds my dreams
The Rent
Binds my thoughts
Snuffs my desire
Dousing my fire
The Rent
Wrecks my mind
My mind is all I have
And I’m going insane
My mind is all I have
And I’m going insane
The Rent
The Rent
The Rent

Thank you for sharing this. A very direct and insightful poem, I really appreciate the “whipping” euphemism for rent. Hit the nail on the head!
Thanks for reading.
I feel we over pay for every breath you take.
Regards James
Over pay is right. You exemplify that very well in this piece.

Oh my goodness, I really like how intense that reading is. I agree that the rent is too high
Yes, the rent of living is high. Every thing is rented. The air, the time, the moments of our lives, every second is paid for. And it goes up every day.
Thanks for reading and listening
Regards James
hello dearest James I know the feeling this is wonderful I feel the pain of it ❤️
Every moment costs money and it just rises and rises. I feel it. I see what it does to people.
It cost a lot to exist.
Thanks for reading
