while walking to the local market
we almost get run down
in my head I’m thinking
‘what a fucking asshole!!’
as bad as I want to lose my cool
and flip them the bird
maybe say some profane words
I see you and your loving nature
it always calms me
I just have to roll my eyes
and say “some people”
we grab us some donuts
and head towards the checkout
someone cuts in front
not even acknowledging their actions
guess I can throw this pastry
towards this inconsiderate persons head
but when I look into your eyes
I just have to roll mine
and say “some people”
everyday is a new day
for people to find new ways to irk me
whether it’s telemarketers waking me up
kids playing in my front yard
problems at the job
medical dept and sickness
as much as life gets to me
one thing is true
all of that fades
when I’m with you
as we walk back to our home
I see our neighbor
with his truck that has balls
and that don’t tread on me flag
he’s always staring at me
like he wants to say something
some days I wish a mother fucker would
or I’ll tell him where to go
maybe get into an old fashion tussle
but when I look over at you
it clears my mind
only leaving the love I feel
I just have to roll my eyes
and say “some people”

Oh yeah, everyday life can suck badly sometimes! The more valuable it is to have someone at your side who is well balanced and reminds you that getting upset about small things is only waste of time and energy. We can’t change them anyway. Much more important is to focus on the things that are really meaningful to you and that you can have impact on!
As bad as the world seems I remind myself of the blessing in my life.
Thanks for the read friend.
I concur with Sappho, and hope everyone has (or finds) someone that keeps them grounded in this way. Awesome write, my friend!

When I think of my wife I think of someone that’s kind and hopeful. Even though I’m not like that it makes me wish I was.

Sounds like you found that rare individual who grounds you. I have one of those too. The world is getting harder to find center in. Everything feels poised to set us off. Finding that pin-point of calm in all that is a treasure. Beautifully written, my friend
Those we love tend to drown out the ugliness of the world. Thanks for the read friend.
