Lead Speaker and Head of the Society, Malaria
Ladies … we need to quiet down now… so we can start.
Today we have to decide if we are going to accept a new member into our society.
We have a new pledge named Covid-19
I know, I know, we have not accepted any new pledges in years, but she did come on the scene spectacularly and needs to be considered.
I am going to put this on the floor so we can decide if she qualifies to be in The Sisterhood of Death
The first one who has the floor is Smallpox.
First off, I want to say that we need to get together more often and not just when we rare our beautiful bodies to attack these humans.Â
I have been keeping an eye on this new pledge. I agree with you that she came on to the scene with a flair that I haven’t seen in centuries.Â
She spread like wildfire and almost brought a tear to my eye. The keyword here is almost. The humans are getting smarter and found a counter vaccine for her quickly.
So my vote is Yes. She does belong with us and I feel that we can teach her some new tricks. Don’t you agree? Fluezy?
Influenza has the floor
In my day, humans could not catch up with me as fast as they caught up with her. Now my understanding is they’re putting us both in the same category?Â
Every year, they have to take a vaccine. Even saying the word feels like lead on my tongue, vaccine.
I don’t share the spotlight, and I do not find that she has put enough work in to qualify. My vote is No
HIV has the floor
Fluezy calm down. Take a quaalude. There are enough of them to go around for us to take out, I vote Yes.
Flu= You would vote Yes. You’re almost eradicated and you hate that they can not catch me.
Please let us stay calm.
Flu: What is your vote, Maly? You brought us here to vote. You are the High Queen. No one can stop Malaria.
I think she is still young, and she keeps evolving. Under our tutelage, she can be a force to be reckoned with. I vote Yes. That is three yes and one no. I think the verdict is…
Wait, wait, I know I am not a “sister”, but I do earn say by proxy since Zika could not make it.
Of course, Ebola. What do you say?Â
I think she should wait for the next enrollment for the sisterhood. She is still too young and should not be molded into any of us, but come into her own, alone. Like we all have. So I say No
Alright, Two No’s and Three Yes’s. She is accepted into the Sisterhood of Death. Congratulation Covid-19
Covid has the floor
You can call me Vid, and as long as I do not have to conform too much or have to deal with toxicity in the workplace. Then we’re good. Oh, I do not get up at dawn. 10:30-11 am is when I do my best work
All of them stare at her and say, “Millennials.”

Cleverly penned, Fia. Amazing story my friend. Appreciate you.
