I knew it was over… the day
your hand lay lifeless in mine.
That sudden goodbye
and that iciness you shared.
Glares… not beautiful gazes.
Sharing hands with a corpse
then made it a wintry day.
It was a shimmering summer day
and I remember it vividly,
the seasons changed suddenly.
You told me you didn’t care…
and I reciprocated…
I know I am alone
with those awful voices!
But you had a real voice!
Whatever they are…
they are evil static!
I will not give in to them,
I will find a way out of this…
And then away for home,
to what home was always
meant to be! Away,
from these damn hallucinations!
And then move on from you…

Powerfully penned, Daniel. Can feel the weight of this write my friend. Appreciate you.

Your poem is so beautiful and sad, Daniel!
‘Sharing hands with a corpse’. This speaks volumes, and cuts like a knife. As always, your work is beautifully written with a masterful use of imagery, brilliant!
Hahahaha!
