The Earth has always had a plan
She shifts continents like furniture
stirs storms in her sleep
starts over when she feels like it
She doesn’t need permission
She doesn’t need us
No, we didn’t cause all this
The Earth has her own cycles
her own rhythm
She burns and cools
rises and falls
with or without our input
But let’s not pretend
we’re innocent bystanders
We’re piling on
Stacking smoke on top of fire
ripping through forests
dumping plastic into oceans
choking the sky with our progress
We didn’t spark the match
but we keep pouring gasoline
like we’re daring her to notice
We are not a force of nature
We are a rash
a flare-up of greed
a brief irritation
on her ancient skin
And when she’s had enough
she won’t scream
or send a warning call
We are simply fleas
on Mother Earth’s back
and she will flick us off
without a second thought

Powerfully penned, Zazzles. Reminds me of an old George Carlin bit, when it comes to shaking us off like a bad case of fleas. Great write my friend. Appreciate you.

Sorry it took so long to reply back to you Damian. Yeah I remember that skit from George Colin. He was one of the greatest.
Thank you for visiting my friend
