Kindness Of Objects

Bookmark
Summary:
A poem about the kindness of objects.
This entry is part 32 of 10 in the series Poems

Take a look at a chair or table.
You wonder,is it stable?
A chair would never kick or trip your legs.

Or atleast not by will.
Chairs are made to rest,to sit still.
Look at a table.

You can put anything on it swell.
And you can eat on it well.
It won’t wish you any woe.

And isn’t an enemy or foe.
A lamp is there to shine bright.
In the dark,or late in the night.

From chairs to tables.
With prices and labels,all vary.
A fridge to store your food.

So that it lifts up your mood.
And keeps you fed.
A lamp is made to be on the ceiling.

But it would never hit you at all.
it shines in the darkness when you need it.
And it doesn’t need you to feed it.

Lamps are a bright source of much needed light.
And tables help carry your things when you might.
Whether it’s eating on your table.

Or painting a picture onto a sheet of paper.
Objects, they all vary and help you now or later.
A piece of furniture would never hurt you.

But it also cannot speak.
It’s not hostile,and words repeat.
It would never hit you on the head.

Or when you lie comfortable on your bed.
Furniture wishes us no woe.
You may wonder, how do I know?

They were all around me as I grow.
I remember a cozy bed, with peaceful dreams in my head.
I remember my lamp, that shined in the dark.

I remember my couch.
And I remember a soft rug.
A stuffed animal in the shape of a pug.

A fancy carpet in colorful patterns.
They won’t fly or run away.
Just sleep in your bed today.

And you’ll have peaceful dreams all the way.
Would you be friends with a chair or table?
Or would you say no,that you are unable?

Let me make you some hot cocoa in a ceramic mug.
It’ll taste like a warm hug.
Just don’t put your feet up on the table.

That would be disrespectful.
I know they are objects, but what do we expect?
They all take place in a wonderful landscape.
