Clitophon – “As soon as I had seen her, I was lost. For Beauty’s wound is sharper than any weapon’s, and it runs through the eyes down to the soul. It is through the eye that love’s wound passes, and I now became a prey to a host of emotions…”
pensive…
such is of a melancholy melody
“and so it goes”
when two reluctantly agree to disagree
…
but first, I digress
overwhelming …
are these feelings of love at first sight
a hormonal imbalance
sexual expression soon to delight
…
marinate in that thought for just a moment
heartbreak…
is what my poem is certainly about
the event horizon when
words devolve unto silence without
regardless…
of how a relationship goes wrong
when not seeing eye to eye
sadness compelling the melody’s song
perhaps…
it was politics, religion, or personal values
possibly differing interests
maybe infidelity that someone did choose
irrelevant…
are each of these reasons to why
or some other myriad of cause
each are of the same destination goodbye
dissonance…
defines each emotionally sour note
with these lyrics transfused
that a broken heart meticulously wrote
overwhelming …
are these feelings of when love is lost
a hormonal imbalance
“and so it goes” the emotional cost
…of a melancholy melody
Beautifully penned, Angel. Dig the flow, and your distinct style. Appreciate you.

Poet Damien, thanks for taking the time to read and comment on several of my poems. Yes, I guess my style is a little unique (quirky). Most of what I write is relative to music. I am truly amazed how songwriters and their collaborations can marry song lyrics and a melody to translate feelings the heart perceives into emotions the mind comprehends.
Paths diverge. People change and fall out of love for reasons we sometimes can’t name.
Your posts always make me pause and think. Thank you for that.
Poetess Adira, thanks for your insightfulness. Sometimes my words make me pause and think too. I started with a thought about the feeling of melancholy, based on your poem “Moving On From You”, but it made me stop and consider the question, “How does a relationship get from point A to point Z in the course of time?” There is such a powerful high associated with the concept of “love at first sight” relative to the emotional low when things don’t work out.
I love that.
