My Valentine is miles from here
and February’s atmosphere
has cloaked the stars. A snowy shroud
engulfs my heart inside a cloud.
But through the tundra’s ice and snow
I feel his warming afterglow,
a breath across the vast divide
expelled just as he comes inside
my wanton valley, wet and warm –
his shelter from the raging storm.
With Cupid’s arrow plunging deep,
he wakes me from my winter’s sleep.
Our bounding pulses beat as one.
He melts me like a summer sun.
My flower drenched; my petals splayed,
we float atop the love we’ve made.
Eternal Spring has frozen time
forever with my Valentine.
I know
What do you know, Sam?
